Mallikarjun is the composition of two words mallika (symbolize Maa Parvati) and arjun(symbolize Lord Shiva). Mallikarjun is situated in kurnool, Srisail, Andhra Pradesh, India.
History
Once upon a time, lord Shiva and Parvati planned to marriage their kids Lord Kartikey & Lord Ganesh. Then they called them asked them to proove their eligibility. Then Lord Shiva gave them a challenge that who will first complete the parikrama of earth called winner. Then lord Kartikey start their race and then Lord ganesh apply his mind and complete his parikrama by revolving around their parents and said parents are the world of every kids. Lord Shiva impress with the answer and anounce him winner. This makes lord kartike unhappy so he left the kailash and went to Srisail Mountain. So devi parvati and lord shiva came here to make him happy so they appear their in the form of aboriginal(Adivasi) but lord karike recognise them and start praying them and asked them to stay there so they become jyotirling and stay there in the form of Mallika(Lord Parvati) and Arjun (Lord shiva).
